Las Loicas

Before the first settlers arrived, this land was home to the Selk’nam people, the original inhabitants of Tierra del Fuego. They lived in close connection with nature, moving across the island following the rhythm of the seasons, the guanacos and the winds. Their presence can still be felt in the silence of the steppe and in the names that remain on the map today.

During the late 19th and early 20th century, the north of Tierra del Fuego slowly changed with the arrival of large sheep farming estancias. Much of this region originally formed part of enormous properties that stretched across vast areas of land. Over time, many of these estancias were divided and sold into smaller properties, slowly shaping the landscape of smaller farms and family projects that exists today.

Cabo San Pablo itself has always been known as a remote and isolated part of the island. Strong Atlantic winds, difficult weather conditions and the long distances shaped the people who chose to live and work here. The cape also became known for its maritime history and shipwrecks. Even today, the old Desdémona shipwreck still lies on the beach in front of the estancia, while the lighthouse overlooks the coast and the Atlantic Ocean.

Las Loicas is located in this landscape where forest, steppe and ocean come together.

The houses on the property were originally built by the former owners, who created the first home here with great care and dedication. When we first arrived, we immediately felt something special about the place. It did not feel like simply buying land, but like finding somewhere we could truly build a life.

Over time Las Loicas slowly became our family project and our home. A place where we are raising our daughter, learning from nature and creating a way of hosting people that feels connected to the rhythm of this region.

Our dream is not only to share a beautiful place, but also a way of life rooted in simplicity, adventure, hospitality and respect for nature. We focus on welcoming small groups of guests, allowing people to experience the estancia in a personal and relaxed way.

Together with our team, everyone contributes in different ways: gardening, fishing, horse riding, preparing an asado, beach sailing, cooking and caring for the animals and the land. Life here is hands-on and shaped by the reality of living far from the main road and close to nature.

Las Loicas continues to evolve season after season. Step by step, we are building something that feels meaningful to us and that we hope guests can also feel when they spend time here.
